Dear AILIA members and colleagues,

I write this note to you on the last days of summer in Canada. As we wrap up the season of summer holidays we reflect on how interesting the 2020 summer has been. With pandemic restrictions, for those of us who had a chance to enjoy a bit of holidays, I bet it was different from your normal vacation to say the least.

The AILIA Board of Directors kept busy during the month of July and August. We kept on pushing forward in transforming AILIA to a digital organization, planning, organizing our online presence to support, educate, and help our members and the industry in general.

To that end, we held several interesting webinars. We have also launched an initiative of building connections and affiliations with likeminded organizations and associations locally and around the world. As a result we signed cooperation and affiliation agreements with the Argentine Association of Language Services, Women in Localization, and EUATC (European Union Association of Translation Companies). We also launched a new committee, Partnership and Affiliation, chaired by Marlie Rousseau. The purpose of the new committee is to continue extending our affiliation and partnership programs nationally and globally.

Chers collègues et membres de l'AILIA,

Je vous écris en ces dernières journées chaudes de l’été au Canada. Alors que la saison estivale tire à sa fin, le moment est bien choisi de réfléchir à ce qu’elle nous a apporté d’intéressant et aux restrictions liées à la pandémie. Si vous avez eu la chance de prendre des vacances, je parie qu’elles ont été assez différentes de celles que vous prenez habituellement.

Le Conseil d’administration de l’AILIA est demeuré occupé en juillet et en août. Nous avons poursuivi la transformation de l’AILIA en organisation numérique, planifiant et organisant notre présence en ligne pour appuyer, renseigner et assister nos membres et l’industrie en général.

À cette fin, nous avons proposé plusieurs webinaires intéressants. Nous avons aussi lancé un projet de création de liens avec des organisations et des associations qui partagent nos intérêts au pays et ailleurs dans le monde, lequel projet nous a permis de conclure des ententes de coopération et d’affiliation avec l’Argentine Association of Language Services Compagnies, Women in Localization et l’Union européenne des associations des sociétés de traduction (EUATC).

De plus, nous avons formé un nouveau comité sur les partenariats et les affiliations, présidé par Marlie Rousseau, qui a pour objectif de continuer de développer nos affiliations et nos partenariats au pays et dans le monde.
