18 Mar 2024 1:22 PM | Antonieta Herrera (Administrator)

Proposals are welcomed for the WorldSpeak conference, taking place May 23-24 at Glendon College, York University. The Canadian Language Industry Association has been putting on conferences for members for over 20 years, and this year it is throwing open the doors to the world to showcase the Canadian language industry on the global stage.

The inaugural edition of WorldSpeak will focus on the translator's and the interpreter’s profession. We'll delve into topics such as rates, the importance of qualifications in this field, opportunities, and the challenges arising from new technologies. We’ll also be discussing how this evolving landscape will impact translators' rates.

CLIA would be happy to receive proposals from private industry as well as academia.

Themes include:

-Business development

-Future of the language industry

-Adaptation of language education to current landscape

The deadline for proposal submissions is March 31. We will provide feedback to everyone by mid-April regarding the final agenda, which will include the accepted proposals.
